A CALL TO ACTION FOR ALL OF US

ON CRUISE-SHIP EARTH

It has been 50+ years since the first person walked on the moon.

Undoubtedly traveling to the moon is still one of mankind's greatest achievements, but... has this incredible feat of human ingenuity helped us to fully grasp that we are all traveling through space every single moment of our lives?

Planet Earth, is an amazing spaceship that offers its passengers a truly unique cruising experience.

When we look at our planet, it seems our (space)ship was conceived as a luxury yacht, meant for only a handful of people. Unfortunately, in number of passengers planet Earth has now more in common with an over-crowded cruise ship.

Similar to a cruise ship, planet Earth is a complex, highly sophisticated vessel. But the cruise ship has one major advantage: It has a professional crew that knows how to take care of the ship.

On planet Earth however, we are all passengers and we have inherited this beautiful planet without a manual.

So, instead of making good use of our vessel and its life-supporting resources we are using the ships' furniture as fire wood in the salon, flush the toilets into our clean water supply, empty the fridges without restocking them,...

With IMPACTVISTA we believe in the power of human ingenuity to find and develop the much needed solutions for the challenges we are facing. We engage investors, mobilise and support business leaders and leverage academic and scientific knowledge to help create a sustainable society and provide future generations with a manual and the tools to go further with the resources at hand.

If humankind wants to survive, we urgently need to take care of space ship Earth because... there is no planet B, let alone the technology to bring us there.

So, hereby I kindly invite you to create a profile and tell us about your talents, your projects and the resources you can offer to help create a sustainable society! Let's give this planet, its inhabitants and our children a future!

Ief Winckelmans, Founder

BACKGROUND

IMPACTVISTA ALLIANCE was incorporated in 2014 as 'OCEAN IMPACT Ltd.' by former Internet Pioneer and ICT-Entrepreneur, Mr. Ief Winckelmans. The ambition: To mobilise a global alliance of stakeholders for sustainable progress. The alliance invites scientists, engineers, designers, business leaders, philanthropists, investors and explorers with the aim to find, develop and support the transformational eco-solutions that enable us to make the transition to a sustainable society for generations to come.

A CHILDHOOD FASCINATION FOR THE OCEAN, SOURCE OF LIFE ON EARTH.

With his father being an avid deep-sea treasure hunter, Mr. Winckelmans grew up with a passion and deep respect for the ocean. Doing his first scuba-diving before reaching the age of 10 he got fascinated by the life beneath the waves and dreamed of exploring the deep-sea like his heroes, Capt. Jacques-Yves Cousteau, Jacques Piccard, Don Walsh and Dr. Sylvia A. Earle. With such role models, it did not take long for Mr. Winckelmans to learn that all life on Earth is connected to the ocean. They regulate our climate and its maritime ecosystems produce most of the air we breathe.

AN EYE-OPENING CONFRONTATION WITH THE NEGATIVE IMPACT OF HUMAN INDUSTRIAL ACTIVITY.

Spending an important part of his career working in China, the confrontation with the negative impact of industrialisation, the massive pollution of air, water and land, and the irreversible destruction of vital ecosystems prompted Mr. Winckelmans to explore how he could best apply his expertise in business and investing to help find and develop the much needed solutions for the rapidly increasing environmental challenges.

And as such OCEAN IMPACT, now IMPACTVISTA ALLIANCE was started as an alliance of responsible investors. Over time the organisation developed into a global advisory of responsible professionals, all committed to making a positive impact on the environment and on society by helping humankind make the transition to a sustainable society for generations to come.
